Ballpark Bag!!

My two favorite things are making bags and going to Phillies games sooo.........
I decided to make a bag to take to the ballpark.  This year we will be doing a baseball weekend out in Pittsburgh when the Phillies are out there over the 4th of July.  I'm sure we will be walking the city exploring during the day so I wanted a somewhat compact bag that would be easy to carry.  There's nothing worse than constantly pulling your purse strap back up onto your shoulder, am I right girls?!
So in March I received my pattern for the Bag Pattern of the Month and it was PERFECT for what I wanted.  It is called The Convertible Bag and it is by Sewing Patterns by Mrs. H.  It can go from regular purse to cross body bag to backpack!  LOVE!!!
So here's my baseball version of The Convertible Bag!

BTW, the cool baseball fabric was bought at Joann's.  Actually ALL the fabric was from Joann's.  And a big thanks to Christine from ChrisWDesigns for introducing me to rivets!!  I think they look so cool on this bag!

Flag on a Stick hop!

                                                  Sew we quilt
Here goes my second try at writing this post!!!!  Oh technology, why do you hate me?!!!
As soon as I heard about this hop I knew I wanted to make a flag to represent my new bag making adventure!  I love making bags and have started taking orders from friends and family for custom made bags.  And bonus, it pays for my fabric addiction!
I thought at the top of the flag I should put my logo but wait.....I don't have a logo.  So this is what I came up with...
It's quite simple but fun!  I love the font and best of all....it was free in my Word program!  YAY FREE!!!  Well with a name like Robin I certainly wouldn't call them bags but rather...nests!!  So they are my custom made fabric nests!  Heeeeyyyyyyy, that would be a great blog name!  bahahahaha
Bet you'll never guess what that is in the middle!!  Here's some more in process pics...

Hey, don't mind me..I'm just jammin' to some Pandora while I sew!!

And here's my sewing tip for the day...don't try to watch Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show while hand sewing the embroidery details on your project!  I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes.  Teary, blurry eyes and sharp needles don't play well together!!!!  It's much better to just listen to music!
And so here is my finished flag, and I must say I am quite pleased with it.  It has all different little bags and wallets appliqued on from fabric scraps that I made bags out of!!  And my plump little robin in the middle even has her own fabric nest to fly with!

And just in case you wanted a close up of that diva Robin, here she is...
Look at that fancy fabric nest she has!!
Heyyyyyyy, who's that photo bombing my flag?!!!  GET BACK TO CLASS missy!!!
Well, that's my flag and I'm sticking to it?!!  fly on over to the other hoppers and check out their flags too....

Lunch Time!!

Hey what could chase away the winter blues like a NEW BAG?!!!  I'll tell you...NOTHING!!  So I dug out some fabric that I bought quite a while ago just because I loved it so much and went in search of a lunch bag pattern.  Lo and behold I found a FREE tutorial for the cutest lunch bag around over at Pink Penguin!  Here's my version...
OMG, isn't it awesome?!
I love the pull close cover on top.  No peaking at my not so healthy lunch!!  So thanks so much to Ayumi for a great tutorial for this fast and fun bag.  BTW, wouldn't it make a great Easter basket?!

Custom Ordered Bags

    image
Custom Ordered Bags, a set on Flickr.
Here are a few of a few recently ordered and delivered bags I made. It seems I have narrowed my addiction down from all sewing to bag making!  I started putting all my photos into Flickr thinking that would make it easier to put into a post. WRONG!!  I don't know how to add them one at a time or make them a bit bigger so they are easier to see.  Ahhhh Technology...one day I will figure you out!!  Guess I'll have to go back to keeping them all on my phone and uploading them straight to Blogger from there.  Anyone with some helpful hints will be my new best friend!!

January's Bag of the Month

In December I posted about joining the Bag of the Month Club started by Sew Sweetness.  On January first, bright and early, I received the first pattern.  The name of the pattern is the Bye Bye Love Bag by Sara herself.  I wasn't quite sure if I would like the bag for myself but, boy oh boy, was I mistaken!!  I LOVE THIS BAG!  It makes the perfect bag for work.  It is nice and roomy with gobs of pockets inside and out.  A girlfriend ordered one to take to the beach for all her lotions and potions and towels.  I never thought to use it as a beach bag but it would be PERFECT to use for that!!  anyway, here is my version of the Bye Bye Love bag....

I made my version from outdoor fabric so it wouldn't matter if it got rained on while walking into work.  I really love how it turned out!  My one tip for using outdoor fabric would be to iron on the fusible interfacing before cutting!!  I have gotten tons of compliments on this bag and no one can believe it is homemade.  So THANK YOU SARA for helping me to impress everyone with your wonderful bag!!!

Here is a pic of the inside full of work stuff (minus the Kindle Fire full of games!!!).
I highly recommend joining this club to any and all bag makers!  Have a fabulous day everyone!

                                                                        OMG!!!!
I really can't believe I messed up this bad!  I had written down on my sticky note that my day was the 17th instead of the 16th.  I feel just horrible about this.  I am so sorry to all those who have had to come back a second time to see my project. Well, one good thing is that you won't have to read through a long winded post like I normally write for the hops!!!
So I decided that this year when I join a hop I will make an item for the guest bedroom.  By the end of the year it should be fixed up right pretty!!  The curtains in there were cheap hideous muddy water colored things.  Don't know who ever thought buying them was a good idea!!!  I came across a beautiful picture while browsing Pinterest and it inspired this lovely valance...

I thought it looked somewhat like a blue sky with fluffy white clouds with a little sunny yellow on top!  I am going with a garden theme in there and I didn't want the window dressing to be plain and boring.  This was my way to spruce it up a bit!  Now, for what to put on it... Wel, with a name like Robin and a garden theme....what else?!!  Some beautiful blue birds of happiness!!

Here's a close up of the lovebirds!

And just look who popped in for a visit!!  She loves the new window treatment, but then, she is A Little Bit Biased!!!!

I hope you like my project but even more I hope you accept my appology for being late.  Now I must go grovel and throw myself on the mercy of Madame Samm and Carol and beg them not to put me on the naughty list!  While I am eating crow you go on and visit these other hoppers for today...
